Feel the joy of a cold snout at WRFAS! 🐷

If you are anything like my family we are constantly looking around for an outdoor, COVID friendly activity to do with our kids. We recently visited the loveable potbelly pigs at Whispering Rise Farm and Animal Sanctuary in Freeland, MD and had such an amazing time!

The mission of Whispering Rise is to provide sanctuary for surrendered and rescued potbelly pigs who are products of the pet pig trade, and to educate the public about them. They offer  sanctuary to potbelly pigs and provide humane education to the public all while providing a fun and hands on experience to individuals and small groups.

We booked a guided tour where our knowledgeable tour guide took us in to each one of the different pig pastures, there we learned so many fun and interesting facts about potbelly pigs. We had no idea potbelly pigs were so friendly and loveable! Whispering Rise is home to over 60 pigs and counting so we got to meet a ton of different pigs on our tour! The kids absolutely loved being able to interact, pet, and even feed the pigs. Bringing produce for the pigs is always encouraged, some fan favorites are pumpkins, apples, oranges, carrots, melons and bananas. Be sure to also check out their adorable tee shirts, sweatshirts, and pig calendar starring a few of the Whispering Rise residents on your way out.

We quickly fell in love with the adorable pigs and really enjoyed learning about each one of their background stories and what brought them to Whispering Rise Farm. My daughter is already begging to go back to pay a visit to some of her favorite pigs we met!
