THIS RACE IS A ROARIN’ GOOD TIME!

One of the most kid-friendly races in the area is back, and this time it’s in a wild, new location!

Kennedy Krieger Institute’s ROAR for Kids 5K road race and low-mileage fun walk returns on Saturday, April 20. This year this fun event will be held at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore! That means racers can show off their wild side and team spirit on a new course—then enjoy all of the zoo’s offerings after the race.

What to Know Before You Go

ROAR for Kids is both family-friendly and accessible: Part of the event is a chip-timed 5K that is perfect for competitive racers. Others can run, walk or roll at their own pace and enjoy the outdoor workout for a good cause. Finally, strollers, wheelchairs and walkers are welcome at the race and the low-mileage fun walk.

ROAR for Kids also includes a Family Festival with games, princess visits, a resource fair, two animal interactions and more. Another highlight of the morning is the much-loved Mascot Challenge with our favorite costumed characters from local, college and professional sports teams competing in an obstacle race!.

And…there are two giveaways! Every ROAR for Kids participant can purchase a discounted ticket to enjoy the exhibits at The Maryland Zoo after the race. They also will receive a voucher for a free ticket to a future Aberdeen IronBirds game!

The money raised at ROAR benefits various programs at Kennedy Krieger Institute. In the past, funds from the event were used to buy classroom radios, equipment for our adaptive sports program, and incentive prizes for patients who need a pick-me-up, among other things.

Super fun fact: This year is the 20th anniversary of ROAR for Kids!
